From this I intend to create a piece of furniture that can be used as a weapon in accordance to the Oxford English Dictionary definition being ' a thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage ...a means of gaining an advantage over someone else'
I will be using nature's defence mechanisms as inspiration, such as the Venus Flytrap and a spider web. This incorporated my 3D design pathway in which I will do extensive research into how nature works and how I can replicate this to create a chair that captures anyone who thinks the chair is to simply to be sat on
This will provide a good opportunity for me to experiment with different materials and mechanisms that will capture an intruder in the same way a spider catches its prey
This was the last project our tutors set and lasting nearly 3 weeks. We were put into groups of 3 and had to decide on an insect or animal and come up with a mechanism that we would operate to move up to 1
0 metres the same way our chosen creature does. Here you can see me getting into the 'driving seat' of our groups snail. We worked on the idea that a snail first extends its neck forward, then the back of the snail catches up. The mechanism that we went with is similar to that of scissors and seen in extendable mirrors
